The most recent blog post on the Route24 website appears to claim that Kenichi Nishi’s dog, Tao, has died.
Anyone who’s ever looked at Nishi’s blog will know, despite the language barrier, just how much Tao meant to him, thanks to the hundreds of photos adorning the website and we can only imagine how bad Nishi must feel right now.
Millions of game designers across the world probably own dogs that have died, of course, but few developers’ dogs are as well known to gamers as Tao. Immortalized in several games – Moon, Giftpia, Chibi-Robo and Captain Rainbow – Tao has a special place in the heart of many a Lovedelic fan, who I’m sure will join me in wishing Kenichi Nishi the sincerest sympathies today.
RIP Tao.
Oh man, that’s really depressing to know. 😦
It doesn’t need to be said, as it’s obvious how much Kenichi Nishi loved his dog -having him appear in such wonderful games like Moon, GiFTPiA and Chibi-Robo (I thought he also appeared in UFO and L.O.L., but I might be mistaken…)-, but after reading his heartfelt blog, it just set it in stone how much he really cherished him.
I completely understand how he must feel, though, as my dog died couple of months ago.
Indeed; RIP Tao. You’ll be missed.
And like you said, Imash; Tao has already been immortalized in wonderful games like Moon and such, so he won’t be forgotten, like the games he appears in. 🙂
Unforgettable.
Yeah he was on LOL for sure. I don’t know about UFO because I think the dog in the apartments was a little different from Tao.
Nishi must be really depressed. I know I feel a bit bad but then again Tao was fortunate enough to have been immortalized by his owner’s games. How many dogs have had that pleasure?

Very sad to hear about this.
I’m a huge fan of Kenichi Nishi and I used to take pleasure in the fact that a character from MooN was still alive and well.
=(
May he R.I.P. and I wish for all the best for the Love-de-lic team wherever they may be.
