So I bought an iPod Touch today, mostly so that I could play Newonica but also for the other benefits. My other iPod is a shuffle, so I felt that the upgrade was justified. Sadly, however, I got the thing home to find that it’s not even compatible with my Mac.
To get it to work I’d have to buy a new version of OS X (about £80) and install another 256mb or RAM in my Mac Mini (about £120). That’s about the same price as the iPod itself, just so I can use it.
Thankfully it’ll work on the Macs at work and I’ll still be able to charge it a home, or download stuff straight through the iPod’s Wi-Fi connection. Still, I find it a little insulting that Apple can’t make all its devices compatible with older Macs. I mean, I’m still running OS X here, not 9, so it’s not too much to ask in my opinion.
Oh well, looks like I’ll have to wait until Monday morning to see if Newtonica is worth all the money and stress.
